“The Bitch That Invented Work”
30” x 40”
Oil on stretched canvas
2005
Private collection of Hangmen Records

Commissioned by Hangmen Records, this painting was used as an album cover for “THE TOMBSTONE BRAWLERS” for their album entitled “MEATHOOK LOVER” and sold in the U.S. as well as abroad prior and during their European tour. The image became highly recognizable for the band as well as being one of the first images to bring some controversy in my portfolio. It brought both positive and negative reactions due to the violent image superimposed on the American flag.
My dislike of Wal-Mart and what it represents is evident by the “Smiley Face” button on the models shirt.
Done in a fairly realistic style this piece took over 100 hours to complete. Done without a full charcoal under drawing the image was probablematic. With an under drawing many of the hurtles I had to cross in the painting stage could have be eliminated prior to paint.
